Bride of Frankenstein

Bride of Frankenstein
Movie Review

Who is Frankenstein?

Like most of us would answer, all my life, I believed that Frankenstein was the tall monster with screw on his head. Bur after I have watched the full movie version of Bride of Frankenstein, he was the Doctor who created the monster.

Bride of Frankenstein is one of the must-see movies in some horror lists. It was release after the 1931 prequel Frankenstein and is considered by many to be better than its predecessor

Mary Shelley, who was the author of the classic novel Frankenstein, was portrayed in the beginning of the movie and drop the lines "the story doesn't end there". In her novel, she depicted the monster not having the ability to communicate and use the human language with sense. While in James Whales's interpretation, (director of both films), Frankenstein was able to communicate with the humans with the help of a blind friend. Their relationship were build-up, but in the end was forced to live apart, which showed the softer side of the monster. To fulfil his emotional emptiness the two Doctors worked together. Dr. Frankenstein was forced to save his wife. While Dr. Pretorius's real intentions was to rule the world and become God by means of these monsters.

In order to revive the person from death needs a very large amount of energy. And the doctors used lighting to supply the energy needed. Unfortunately, the supposed to be Bride didn't fell in love with Frankenstein, but was terrified with his appearance instead. The disappointed Frankenstein ruined the tower which caused not only his death but the bride's and Dr. Pretorius's death also.

Trip to the Moon

Trip to the Moon
Movie Review

A film like "Trip to the Moon" is a breakthrough in the film industry. From a black and white, they have produced colored films which is very unusual during those times. Having boxes that contain humans are great invention, then now from black and white, they have manage to put colors on it. who knows that maybe someday, they may add audio in the next few years in their arts. In those times, it was a really great improvement.

The wonders of undiscovered things remain problematic. Their depiction of the moon and how to go there is limited with what knowledge is available and their experiences. What are the things that exist there are very similar with what are the things that exist on Earth with some modifications because of imaginative minds.

If I were in that date, it is a really entertaining film but not that good reference of reality (since we are all aware of it now). But it also reflects how people from the past think of the moon and the unexplainable things around them.

All the time

All the Time

If “All the Time” were adopted and it would happen in the present setting, Atomic Bomb will probably out and World War III is not likely to occur. Instead we may experience major and numerous earthquakes, since it is unpredictable and no device is yet invented to determine when or where a possible earthquake may occur. We are not certain nowadays, after the unexpected tragedy in Bohol. What if it is not only a town or a province, what if it is as vague as the world?

I wouldn't be surprise if many poorly constructed infrastructures of corrupt politician will collapse. Then, if I were the only one alive, I'll find a safe place with stable food. But if I don't find one, I could build one. I don't have to worry or hurry because I have ALL THE TIME anyway.

If in the original story, the guy only wants to READ, maybe I could also start to WRITE a book. A book about what happen, what is happening, and what will I want to happen in the future. I want my works to be a reference of future people. A book that will definitely be significant to historians or other survivors in different part of the world. I want them to give access to this time which will be part of their past.

Futurama foresee that the future will be very hi-tech and all aspect of life are dependent on technology. They impose peace and order through strict implementation of the use of technology even on the personal aspect of the life of their citizen. With a single chip implanted on everyone, it already declared their identity, their career, and their personal being for the rest f their life. Technology already took their right as human, even their freedom as well.

A delivery boy accidentally timed travelled from the past to the future. At first he was hoping to have a better life now than he is in the past. But he was disappointed to know that his faith was no differ with what he has (to be a delivery boy). With the help of his friends they use a ship to escape. Now, he was assign to be the delivery boy of the ship.

Even the guy timed travelled, some things was keep certain in his life whatever timezone or dimension it may be. He timed travelled via being frozen in a cryonic tube, then defrosted from it a thousand years later.

A Scientist's Misfortune

The Fly (1958)

For me, the sci-fi movie "The Fly", a story about a scientist who's experimenting on matter transportation is quite interesting in a sense that it is done in the 1950's where there is not much research and scientific proofs. But, entertaining? I have to commend that even if it is in black and white, it is theatrically acted and a lot of melodrama, I was entertained by how series of events were place.

In the film, Andre as a scientist, almost couldn't allot time for his family, himself. He was just so busy with his experiments and few trails didn't content him. He tried from a ceramic and then with a living thing, and then himself. Unfortunately, he was unaware of the fly on his second attempt. He was a man full of pride, he made his wife promise not to tell any one about his misfortune. He even turned his works into ash for no one to find it. But, he's willing to die as a consequent, since each passing day, he is becoming more of a fly.

Andre and his wife, Helena, once argue about God as creator and man's free will. It is very problematic that the two is separated only by a thin line. And until now it is still not clearly define what are the boundaries of both. But Andre's experiment exploited not only animals but also himself. The police sees it as a crime. In the end, Helena's break on her promise is the only way to save herself from a crime she was accused.

In 1950's, Science and Technology is still new to everyone. A time, where so much still undiscovered. Scientists are so eager to invent something for their credit. Unfortunately that idea ate Andre's mind and lead him to his end.

Hungry for more!?!

Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Movie Review

2012-79054

Hunger Games Trilogy is one of the most popular Sci-Fi movie based on book written by Suzanne Collins. It is a Science Fiction film because it uses science-based depictions of phenomena that are not necessarily accepted by mainstream science(1). The Technology was so advance that even when you twirl, your white wedding dress burns and turns into black mocking jay costume, the facilities are state of the art science and technology, and the island where they battle is covered with force field.

It is the visualization of the future after Apocalypse where society/(district) were utterly horrible or degraded that is generally headed to an irreversible oblivion, or dystopia(2). You can see how Science, Technology and Society FAILED not only in the world of District 13 but all the other district. Only the Capitol has access to this technological advancement and used it in inappropriate manner; A manner where they can be in control and suppress others; A manner which is inhumane and unjust. So there is no surprise that people revolt in the end. It is how History works; it is like a cycle of events that keeps on repeating.

First, it is not a feel-good movie. I didn't cry, but most of the time, I was almost about to. I did watched the first film, so I had a little background. And I liked it. I didn't read the book so I didn't expect much. But after seeing the second installment, I craved for more. It is worth watching. Well, the execution is pretty awesome, but I'm not into that genre where you kill other people just for you to survive. It finally get into me the brutal truth about the game. The ending was literally a cliffhanger, and I'm looking forward to the third film.

"ONE CLICK, and you're in a different world" -Gail Tan

GDaysX Philippines
Reaction Paper

Do you think you have explored the internet, yet? Downloaded the most recent apps? Have you maximized the technology you are enjoying right now? Or even extend the use of this technology advancement in your own career or business, environment, education and community aside from using it for your personal social life? Well think again.

The number one search engine in the entire world wide web, GOOGLE, formulated additional apps to accommodate every needs of its user. And a one-day event held at Xavier St. Greenhills, San Juan, called GDaysX Philippines supported by Google last November 23, Saturday, educate and inform ordinary netizens on the benefits of this applications not only in our social life but also to different aspects of it.

The event was composed of numerous talks about apps that Google offer to use in our advantage in different fields other than what we are used to with the traditional internet life. Gail Tan of Google Philippines shared that the success of Google lies in its USERS. "Focus in the users, and else will follow." she added.
Other speakers talked about applications that will help your business like Gmail, Hangouts (for conference video calls), Google Drive (for storage), Youtube and Blogs (for marketing and advertisements), Google Places and Mapping for Business, Google Analytics and Google+. and they also did some Demo and emphasize on its perks.
In times of catastrophe, just like what happen in Visayas region, the past weeks, there are Community and Crises: Disaster Rescue, Relief and Reconstruction maps that is very helpful in preparing this kind of calamity. This maps are made by volunteer mappers and are designed according to its different uses. There is also this app, called Person Finder, where helps you get and/or give information on a person's whereabouts.

In Education, technology now doesn't just allow you to search, but even more. In so many videos they have shared with us, it is very touching how technology was so innovative that it can fulfill our dreams more than what we could ever imagine. It is true that we could learn more than just the texts on our books. And learning is beyond the four corners of the classroom.

Now the problem is, too many apps to supervise. Well good thing this apps are made to collaborate with each other. They may have different functions, settings and format. But they all work together towards one goal: to make our life EASIER. These apps are interrelated with each other that you can update, access and link one by the other. Google Drive gives you access to all from your mobile-to-PC-to-Tablet-other device wherever, whenever you needed them.

Nowadays, we can literally seat back on our couch in front of our PC whole day without worrying on our work, or run a business online and by only one person, or blog or video our hobbies and earn for a living, or went on tour on ancient civilization for the history class.

STS has gone Google.
